How Technology can keep Politicians honest.

*not trying to be political, I know its Election season*

last night, I was one of several million americans watching CNN, they just broke with Congressman Foley having on so congressman like emails with a 16 yr old page. I was thinking if we didn’t have technology, what would our politicians be too, if they knew we couldn’t really figure out whats going on? one example is the infamous Nixon Tapes, also the Technology that the burglars used were “not civilian technology you could buy off the street”. these little clues made the reporters wondered it wasn’t a ordinary job.

well whats the theme of this blog? how technology is the future “paper trail”.  From nixon tapes to the trail that these emails covered. if Congress didn’t have the tapes Nixon would have had a easier time of hiding everything.  if the Congressman havent had email what would he do? well probably initiate the “hit” in real life (we’re assuming). I wouldn’t want a 16 yr old to have to deal with that.

btw, anyone know that FDR did drink alcohol on the president yacht when the prohibition was going on. imagine that….

Microsoft – Paper Tiger?

A few days ago I was talking to The Scoble about MSFT because I heard the uproar about the non optional and now optional start up sound about the yet unreleased Vista.

I was surprised that It took a 40+ Billion dollar company to get a big consumer reaction for such a little thing. with it’s millions of dollars into product development, marketing, focus groups Microsoft needed a uproar for such a single thing? It might look like the once efficient msft has become a heavy giant. too slow to react until it feels fear.

so I come to the conclusion that Microsoft is not really the big giant that everyone thought was invincible. all is needed is to cut profits into Office and Windows and the big gorilla won’t be able to concentrate on other areas.

if I was Google I would be taking notes.
